Early Falcon Car Club of Queensland

Welcome!

Welcome to the home page of the Early Falcon Car Club of Queensland Inc. Club meetings are held on the last Tuesday of every month at the The Oxley Hotel, Cnr Ipswich & Oxley Rds, Oxley starting at 7.00pm.

  • Brisbane Club Run - 22 April 12

Monday, April 23, 2012 by Glenn Lyons
Hi fellow club members.... Today was my second run with this fine club and another great opportunity to get out and about with fellow car enthusiasts. The destination for today was intended to be Kingscliff Rotary Park for a picnic on this beautiful day. A technical hitch en-route changed the plans mid run.

Dave & family 71 XY GS
    Nathan & family 67 Mustang
Noel & his wife 84 XE
Eddie & John Yellow XB wagon
Glenn & fiona 64 XM coupe

Northside group assembled at their meeting point and proceeded to meet up with us southies and from there cruise on down to Kingscliff. Whilst we were all assembled at the southside meeting place the '67 'stang started hissing out of the top radiator tank. No wanting to take the risk at popping anything on route Nathan headed into the auto shop to get some radiator stop leak. By the time he had arrived back the 'ole pony girl had cooled down sufficiently so we hit the road Dave leading in the XY and Nathan following cautiously behind.

As diabolical luck would have it the Mustang temp gauge climbed to far in the wrong direction shortly after leaving for Kingscliff. An unexpected stop saw 5 guys standing around watching John ( first timer club run) us a beach towel to get the pressure out of the overheating Mustang. Alternate arrangements were made and we decided to head back to Beenleigh Park and have the picnic there instead. From there Nathan would arrange to get the car back home again. At least we would all still be together.

Ahhh the joys of classic motoring !!!

Once at the park we settled in to getting the kids fed and the adults watered..... A rival car club was in the same park...!! seems it was the Pontiac club with a rather sharp looking red GTO cruising past at about 120db just on idle....: )

With a good time being had by all and food shared and stories told it was time for us all to go our own way back home.

Please see attached word document for some happy snaps.

    Cheers
    Glenn
